Frequently Asked Questions

Are your preschool worker’s trained and screened?
Yes, we hold 2 training sessions per year in order to assure that our volunteer workers are familiar with our policies and procedures.  If you would like a copy of our policies and procedures, please call our Church Administrator for a copy.  All workers are required to complete a national background check and attend Bayshore at least 6 months before volunteering with children.

Are the toys in the classrooms age-appropriate?
Yes, the classrooms that we use on Sunday mornings are also used by our licensed child care facility during the week.  Toys are disinfected weekly and all classrooms have been child-proofed.

Can anyone pick up my child?
Absolutely not.  We are installing a check-in computer and a receipt will be given to the adult who brings the child to our preschool area.  An adult must possess this receipt to pick up a child.

What if my baby/child needs me?
We have a pager system available for parents.  Our computer system will also list your cell phone number as well.  Our regularly staffed  greeter will locate you after 10 minutes should we not be able to soothe your child.  If we call you, that is your signal to come to the preschool reception desk.

I’m concerned about food allergies, what can I expect my baby/child to be offered?
When initially signing in your baby/child, you will have the opportunity to make us aware of any allergies.  Otherwise, the general rule is  bed babies will only be given food or drink provided by the parent, 2’s through kindergarteners will be offered apple juice and Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers.  Graham crackers are sometimes provided as a substitute.

Are there specific activities that my child will participate in on Sunday mornings?
Yes,  we are using the Lifeway curriculum for toddlers through kindergarten which introduce basic Christian principles in a fun age-appropriate environment.

When is it best to keep my child at home?
If your child has the following symptoms:

  • Fever over 99 in the past 24 hours
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
  • Common-cold symptoms such as thick colored mucus, coughing, congestion
  • Unexplained or contagious rashes (pox, mumps, measles, ringworm, etc.)
