Mr. Ruben Swint is a Senior Strategist for Generis Partners, a capital fund-raising company in Atlanta, GA. His company was contracted by Bayshore Baptist to study the feasibility of moving forward with a captial fund raising campaign in the next year. Mr. Swint interviewed twenty-one people chosen from a broad spectrum of membership. He spent time with staff and other leadership. His report reflects the responses of those interviewed to a series of questions:
CHURCH VALUES: People, relationships, family, friendly, fellowship, acceptance, freedom, openness
UNIQUE MISSION: Niche in community ministry
TRUST IN LEADERS: High confidence in ministerial staff and lay leadership
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: High awareness of master plan; good sense of urgency
HOW MUCH CAN WE RAISE: Less than $1 million to $10 million
LARGEST GIFT WE CAN EXPECT: $150,000 to $1 million
YOUR GIFT (Total amount of ten people willing to share what they would give): $377,000
MESSAGE (Why give): Future, good stewards, mission, ministry outcomes
CHALLENGES: Few still affected by staff departures; concern for annual giving; concern to have a successful experience
CAMPAIGN LEADERS: Available
WHEN: Fall and spring
Mr. Swint encouraged us to move forward. He was complimentary of our church and the responsiveness of those he talked with to give and be supportive. He did not identify any obstacles that should make us delay or move in any other direction. His report will go to the Building & Renovation Committee and the Financial Board. They will consider bringing a motion to the church to proceed.
