Criteria for missions financial support through designated giving and percentage allocations
The Missions Committee considered the criteria for support of ministries through church designated giving and percentage allocations from the budget and will make decisions about the use of funds based on the following:
1. Organization is recognized by IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization or ministry need is documented by reputable third party not including peron who is making the request for funds.
2. Ministry seeking funds has a connection to Bayshore Baptist through an active member committed to that ministry.
3. Organization identifies ways to communicate, i.e., phone numbers, e-mail addresses, web site, etc. One person is identified as the primary source of information and contact.
4. Consideration is given to how many people are served annually by the organization or ministry receiving funds.
5. Annual financial report and description of ministry accomplished in a summary report are provided to the Missions Committee. Financial report does not have to be complicated or audited. It should provide an indication of expenses and sources of income. Ministry report and annual financial report should be submitted by January 31.
6. Overhead of ministry is under 15% of total expenditures--the smaller the organization, the less the overhead.
7. Ministry has a Christian witness with Biblical worldview and mission focus.
